See, I’m a geography student. And when you tell someone that you study geography they sooner or later assume that you are a living atlas. Why should I learn facts that can be found in any library or anywhere where internet is available? Use Google or whichever search engine you prefer. Just use it.
Sure, it takes a few clicks. Sure, you need some practice. Sure, you don’t succeed on your first try. Sure, you find pages you wish you wouldn’t. But slowly you get the idea of what to type inside the search box to get the desired results.
Maybe there should be a new school subject where students would be presented with a problem and they should find the answer. Nothing academic, just simple everyday stuff. Like “Help! There’s an error message on my screen whenever I open Tetris. What’s wrong?” I think many people would be thankful. Me included.
